MATERIALS
Our collections are achieved with the exclusive use of high-end materials such as wool, silk, organic cotton, and recycled fibers, because of their amazing quality, properties, longevity, and the low water and energy needed in taking care caring for them.
-
WOOL
Wool is renewable, biodegradable, and also thermo-regulating. It is naturally water repellent and can be enjoyed for years and years. It is the textile fiber that fits best in the circular economy, due to its long-lasting and regenerative properties, low CO2 emissions, and positive impacts throughout its lifecycle.
Our wool is sourced either from British or Italian mills, certified mulesing-free, RWS (Responsible Wool Standard), or upcycled from other luxury brands.
-
CUPRO
Cupro a is a regenerated cellulose-based biodegradable fabric made from cotton waste. Transforming the cotton linter to Cupro fabric requires a chemical process, however, it is made using a closed loop, meaning the solvent used in its production can then be extracted and recycled many times, whilst the water can also be reused.
-
SILK
We only use silk that is either OEKO-TEX-certified silk, GOTS Silk, or deadstock. OEKO-TEX-certified products have been tested for harmful substances, to ensure product safety. GOTS Silk is farmed sustainably and produced free from harmful chemicals and dyes. It includes zero-carbon production and 75% less water consumption than conventional silk too, making them a more sustainable, friendly, and healthier choice. We might use a silk-viscose blend for some garment linings, which would only be sourced from deadstock fabric suppliers and it would still be biodegradable.
-
COROZO
Corozo buttons are made from the seeds of the tagua palm tree, they originate in South America and are harvested naturally, as they only fall to the ground once ripe, meaning that no deforestation or unethical intervention is necessary. Our Corozo supplier has the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certificate, which guarantees that the material has been proven free of harmful levels of toxic substances, so it is natural and biodegradable.
-
ORGANIC COTTON
We only work with GOTS-certified organic cotton, which not only ensures that the fibers are grown without pesticides from seeds that have not been genetically modified, but also requires environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing. Organic farming practices avoid using harmful chemicals while also reducing water pollution by 98%. Cotton fibers are highly durable, biodegradable, breathable, and hypoallergenic.
-
BAMBOO
Bamboo felt is a natural and biodegradable textile made from the pulp of bamboo grass. The one we use to create our jacket’s shoulder pads is verified by the Sustainability Research Institute of the University of East London. This fabric is created with a closed-loop production system whereby 99.5% of the chemicals are captured and recycled to be used again.
-
RPET
Recycled polyester is the only synthetic fiber that we use, and it complies with only 5% of the materials in our collections. We use it when we need a material that will reinforce our garments to last longer and achieve better performance. It is made from recycled plastic bottles, its production requires far fewer resources than that of new fibers, generates fewer CO2 emissions, and it is also a great way to divert plastic from our oceans and landfills.
